3 Months Old

On April 12th Mason and Madeline turned 3 months old. (Which means I'm a little behind with this post.) They have been doing so great at home.

We are happy to report Madeline is off oxygen as well! She is still wearing the pulse ox/heart rate monitor at night (this is probably more for my peace of mind!). They have been eating well and are up to 4 ounces every four hours. The first few weeks at home were busy with doctor's appointments and home visits by therapists. This went really well and the therapist have not found anything concerning. Although they are three months old they were three months early. So until they reach the age of two, developmentally, we have to adjust their age. Meaning that even though they are three months old, they actually are considered a newborn since their three month birthday was only 1 day after their due date. So we can only expect them to act like a 1 day old baby. The therapists however were pleased with their motor skills and mobility and reported they are reaching 1-2 month milestones at this point. We are obviously so pleased to hear this and can't wait to watch them grow and learn now that they are home.

Mason,
This month has been tough for you and your sensitive little belly. You have been struggling with reflux and have had to start on medicine. You still eat like a champ but are so miserable afterwards when you spit up. The medicine seems to be helping but it breaks my heart to see you so uncomfortable after you eat. You are in size 1 diapers just recently, but you still wear newborn size clothes. You seem to have your days and nights mixed up a bit and you seem to like our little date nights at 2 in the morning. This makes for a very tired mommy but I would be lying if I didn't kind of like our quiet moments together in the middle of night snuggled up with you. I love you so much my Mase Face!
Love you to the moon,
Your Mommy

Madeline,
My Moo. You have hit a growth spurt and have passed your brother up in weight this month. You are also recently in size 1 diapers and are just barely still fitting into newborn size clothes. Since you have been home you have really taken off and have become so alert and curious. You have also found your voice and will let out your raspy cry to let us know you are hungry and you mean business! You have come so far and I can't believe everything you have accomplished in the three short months since you were born. If you have been able to amaze me and your Daddy this much in just three short months, I can't wait to see what you do in the years to come. We are so proud of you my little Maddie Moo.
Love you to the moon,
Your Mommy

Came home on Sunday afternoon to this. Evidently it was nap time for everyone.

  1. Thank you for keeping your blog updated in spite of having 2 little ones. They look the picture of health and you always keep them dressed so cute...reminds me of when I had mine. God has great things in store for Mason and Madeline and you are going to look back when they're 18 and see the amazing things they have done in life thus far. All of you remain in my nightly prayers. My husband calls them "the twins" when he prays for them and I tell him they are Mason and Madeline. Period. My best friends throughout my childhood were fraternal twins (boy and girl) and they hated being called "the twins" as well as their mother. I learned then and there to treat them as individuals.
